What Actually Happens in Your Permanent Makeup Appointment?

This is a great question for anyone that wants to explore permanent makeup! What really happens during your appointment?

Most of your contributions as a client, will take place in the first 30 minutes to an hour of your appointment. When you first walk into your appointment, we’ll spend a good amount of time on the consultation. This is an open conversation between you and your artist to talk about your makeup styles, desired outcome, what style of cosmetic tattooing your facial features are best suited for, what color you are wanting, etc. We take an in-depth dive into your daily routine, what triggered you to seek out permanent makeup, how we can mitigate some of those pain points, and how we, as the artist, would take that approach. We want to learn as much as we can about your lifestyle and makeup preferences so that we can expertly guide you to choose a style you will love!

After the 30-minutes or so of discussion, you should be feeling more confident in what style of permanent makeup you’d like to choose, whether that is nano brows, ombre brows, designer eyeliner, or aquarelle/nude lip blushing. We then will solidify some of the details of the permanent makeup choices by mapping the desired look on your face. We typically use a china marker or makeup pencil to carefully mark areas of the face to portray symmetry and shape. Bear with us - we take our time during this step because this is your opportunity to communicate with your artist to change any details of how you want your permanent makeup to look like. After all, this is your face, and we want you to love the results!! While we will be offering expert guidance on the procedure and helping you to choose the most suitable look, we fully expect and want you to be a part of the process! The mapping alone can take about 30 minutes as we perfect the shape and outline of the area. Once we’ve mapped out your brow/eyeliner/lips, we will hand you the mirror so you can take a look and let us know if there are any details you’d like to change. Now that you can visualize what permanent makeup can look like on your face, maybe you want to go slightly fluffier and thicker on your brow width, or maybe you want a more defined cupid’s brow than you initially thought. We welcome any input that you provide and want to help you get to the desired outcome. 

After we make all the adjustments, we will show you the finished mapping results and get a greenlight from you to move forward with the procedure. And this is all happening before we even put a drop of ink on you! 

Then our work begins - we’ll prep your color, run some swatches as necessary, and get to work! This entire process can take about 2 hours once we begin tattooing and we’ll check in with you periodically throughout the procedure to ensure you are relaxed and comfortable.

At the end of the procedure, we’ll hand you a mirror to take a look at the finished result and voila - you are loving your new look and that is the entire process of your permanent makeup appointment!
